Vocational Supervisor

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

IUP offers programs to earn the following credentials:

- Career and Technical Curriculum Specialist
- Supervisor of Career and Technical Education
- Career and Technical Administrative Director

To be admitted to the Career and Technical Leadership Development Program at IUP, candidates must a baccalaureate degree. Requirements to earn the Career and Technical Administrative Director Certificate include evidence of having completed five years of satisfactory professional experience. This includes three or more years of service in a Career and Technical setting as a Career and Technical teacher, Career and Technical counselor, secondary principle, or supervisor of Career and Technical Education. The remaining two years can be from service within or directly related to Career and Technical education. Three years of satisfactory teaching experience is required for the Supervisor of Career and Technical Education Certificate. The experience required for the Curriculum Specialist Certificate is flexible, but a minimum of two years' Career and Technical teaching experience is recommended.

Requirements for Admission:

To be admitted to the Career and Technical Leadership Development Program at IUP, the candidate must:

- hold a baccalaureate degree
- provide evidence of satisfactory Career and Technical teaching experience
- submit to the Center for Career and Technical Personnel Preparation:

- an application for admission to the Career and Technical Leadership Development Program
- official post secondary transcripts
- a photocopy of his or her professional certificate
- a resume or vita
- Verification of Work Experience form to verify appropriate Career and Technical
- teaching/professional experience
- Authorization to Release Information form
- a letter of recommendation from the school administration indicating:
- permission to develop competences
- a willingness to sponsor the candidate

Exit Requirements:

Upon completion of the specified program, the candidate will be recommended to the Bureau of Teacher Preparation and Certification for certification. A program is considered complete when a student:

- provides documentation for each competency included on the candidate's program of study.
- successfully completes all activities on the prescribed individual professional development plan.
