PROGRAM STANDARDS
1. Demonstrate the ability to understand, appreciate, and articulate their role in the educational enterprise in public or private schools.
2. Demonstrate sustained and substantive scholarly and creative inquiry in the domains of art education, including studio production, art history, art criticism and aesthetics. The student will be able to communicate ideas visually, orally, and in writing.
3. Demonstrate the effective use of basic tools; a knowledge of pedagogy, technology, assessment and learning strategies, and curriculum development as these relate to the delivery of effective art instruction in schools.
4. Be able to motivate and inspire students to explore creative avenues in the visual arts and guide their educational progress.
5. Demonstrate an understanding of child and adolescent development and educational psychology as these content areas relate to visual arts education and be able to apply this to the art classroom.
6. Demonstrate a commitment to nurturing the artistic development of every individual they teach, adapting instruction to special needs when necessary.
7. Demonstrate the acquisition of professional behavior and leadership skills to inspire others at the local, state and national levels in the field of education to value and support art education for all citizens.
